String Quartet Winter Weddings…..

String Quartet Winter Weddings РAlthough Spring and Summer are undoubtedly always going to be the most popular time to get married, with warm weather (fingers crossed!), lighter evenings and more possibilities for outdoor activities such as drinks receptions on the lawn, photographs in gardens and perhaps fireworks as the sky darkens, there are also some distinct advantages to getting married in the Winter months.

Firstly, many wedding venues slash their prices over the winter – as these dates are less in demand, it may be possible to negotiate a very good rate for the use of a reception venue. Likewise, suppliers who get booked up a long way in advance for Saturdays over the summer may have better availability during the winter and can sometimes offer discounts too.

Although the vast array of summer flowers may not be as readily available, we have played in some Churches and wedding venues where the arrangements and garlands have been exquisite Рmaking use of winter greenery, mistletoe, holly and other seasonal foliage.

There is something magical and perhaps slightly more intimate about a winter wedding Рrather than guests dispersing outside into gardens after the ceremony, people group together inside around log fires to sip champagne (or mulled wine!) - and a string quartet can be a real focal point with small audiences of guests gathering together to enjoy the music.

We have also played at many summer weddings and got chatting to guests where they have told us that they’d had to make the choice over which wedding to attend as they had been invited to two on the same day. With Summer Saturdays so popular, it’s often easy to clash with other another couple’s big day, whereas in the colder months, this is less likely to happen!
