Wedding String Quartet at Offley Place, Herts
Wedding String Quartet at Offley Place, Hitchin in Herts – Last Saturday, the Manor House String Quartet played for a wedding that started off in the Church at St. Ippolyts, near Hitchin and continued with the reception just down the road at Offley Place in Great Offley.
We played the Pachelbel Canon for string quartet as the bride entered, timing it so that we ended a phrase just as she arrived at the altar in order that the music sounded complete without an abrupt ending. You can hear us perform it here:
For the signing of the register, we performed Nessun Dorma arranged for string quartet, this was followed by the Bach Air for string quartet and both pieces lent a tranquil and elegant ambiance to the proceedings (you can listen to sound samples of our quartet by visiting our Playlist page). The Church organist provided the music for the exit of the married couple.
We then made our way to the reception held at Offley Place and entertained guests outside on the patio area with a selection of lively and varied music as they enjoyed drinks and canapes. We took a break as everyone entered the marquee for the wedding breakfast and as there was ample space, we were able to play in a corner where the sound could project across the marquee. Our set of playing finished just as the speeches were about to begin!
