Buckinghamshire Wedding Music at Grovefield House – On Friday, 6th September,¬†Fay and I played (as a violin and viola string duo) for a wedding at St. Teresa’s Roman Catholic Church in Beaconsfield. The church was mainly constructed in the 1920s and has a freshness and clarity of design that is truly uplifting. It is also famous as being the regular church of G.K. Chesterton, who was a parishioner here. It features a beautiful organ organ built by Roger Pulham in 1992 and this instrument was heard in all its glory for the exit of the bridal couple (to Mendelssohn’s ‘Wedding March’). For the pre ceremony music, we played a selection of light popular songs, including Eva Cassidy’s version of ‘Songbird’ for string duo, before playing Pachelbel’s eternally popular Canon in D for the processional.

After the ceremony had ended, we transferred to the Grovefield House Hotel in nearby Burnham. Here we set up near to the bar area and performed a selection of contemporary pop and rock songs to the appreciative guests.

A few days later, we were delighted to receive this email from the bride:

“I just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you so much for playing at the wedding and our reception on 6^th September ‚Äì although I didn‚Äôt hear you at the reception (too many photos!!) I heard the most important bit (me walking down the aisle!!!) which was so wonderful. We also had lots of compliments on how lovely you guys played both at the church and the reception.¬† Many thanks again and I will recommend you to anyone who ever asks me if I know a good duo/quartet.¬† I‚Äôll also keep you in mind for any future events.”¬†
