Buckinghamshire String Duo for Wedding Ceremony and Reception
Our Buckinghamshire based string duo (consisting of a violin and cello) played for a wedding ceremony that took place on a Saturday in November at the ancient church in the village of Wing in Buckinghamshire. As the village is situated only 3 miles from home this was a particularly local occasion in a familiar church. We Began by setting up on the right hand side of the nave and played five to six beautiful pieces of classical music by Bach, Boccherini, Pachelbel, Debussy and Faur√©. The bride then entered to a popular¬†track called ‚ÄòHoppipolla‚Äô by the Icelandic band Sigur Ros. This is an atmospheric number that grows in intensity, so provided an ideal, modern¬†accompaniment to the bridal entrance. Like many of our rock and pop items, ‘Hoppipolla’ has been specifically arranged for our string duo and therefore still sounds very complete, not requiring the four players of our string quartet. For the signing of the register, we played ‚ÄòKissing You‚Äô by Des‚Äôree, before launching into ‚ÄòThere She Goes‚Äô by The Las for the exit of the bridal couple (making sure that this continued until all of the guests had left the church).
We then travelled over to the Five Arrows Restaurant in Waddesdon to play for the reception drinks. This was an excellent example of a venue where a string quartet may have struggled to be accommodated with the four stands and music required. Feel free to take a look at our blog called ‘Wedding String Duo ‚Äì Getting Your Musicians To Fit Your Venue‘. For this part of the day, the bridal couple had specifically requested a set of music that would provide a celebratory backdrop to proceedings. As people were welcomed in, we played arrangements of pieces by Aerosmith, Bruno Mars and Take That to add to the atmosphere, but without being overwhelming. We departed just before everyone went through for the wedding breakfast and I was able to congratulate the bride personally before we left.¬†
