Solo violin for a wedding at Newland Hall, Essex
Budgeting for your wedding can be a complicated process – as there are often so many suppliers to deal with, things can get a little out of hand. Recently, I played for a couple who decided that they no longer could afford ‘live’ music on their special day, so got in touch to cancel. As they’d already paid a deposit, I suggested perhaps having just a solo wedding violinist (me!) f0r the ceremony and drinks reception (as this wasn’t going to cost much more than the original deposit). You can hear samples of this at the bottom of our string duo page. They were delighted with being able to still have music, so in the end¬†the bride was able to walk down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon in D, albeit without the famous bass line. For the signing I played ‘Marry You’ by Bruno Mars as well as ‘Make You Feel My Love’ – a Bob Dylan song covered by Adele. The bridal couple then exited to Stevie Wonder’s ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours’. Here is a video of the solo violin in a lovely church acoustic:
I then joined the guests at the other side of the marquee in the grounds of Newland Hall, to serenade them with a selection of rock and pop numbers, finishing just as everyone began their line up for the wedding breakfast.
