String Duo
Manor House Music’s wedding string duo are increasingly being asked to provide music for more intimate settings – perhaps with fewer guests, or where the sound of a quartet can actually be overpowering. For this reason, we are happy to offer a growing repertoire of music for weddings and other special occasions. Couples can choose between violin and viola or violin and cello duets. Many ceremony rooms simply can’t accommodate the four members of a string quartet, with the additional space required for their music stands. . .and not forgetting the elbow room for their bowing! The duo can fit either at the front or back of a ceremony and with a wedding party of 100 guests or less, can still project without having to force their sound.
Why choose a String Duo for a wedding?
We now have over 250 arrangements available for the combinations of violin with viola and violin with cello (around 16 hours of music). The Manor House String Duo is also highly portable, being able to give a performance that can move around the venue – such as playing at various tables during a meal, or moving outside into a garden to entertain wedding guests whilst photographs are taken. The space needed for a string quartet can take up quite a bit of room in a venue, but a wedding string duo is much smaller – perfect for private functions in smaller venues.
Perhaps the biggest advantage in booking our string duo is price. The cost of a string duo offers an attractive alternative to the full string quartet and with our carefully written arrangements for two instruments, still sounds surprisingly detailed. Do feel free to get in touch to find out exactly what our duo can do for your event.
Another option is to book a solo violin player for your wedding. Our violin wedding music consists mainly of classical, light, jazz and traditional music. A soloist is again highly mobile, with a violinist often being a popular choice for a wedding ceremony.
